Meta payment threshold vs credit limit vs account spending limit

Meta has several different limits. The card billing threshold, account spending limit and available credit balance each work differently. If delivery stops because of billing, first find out which one you reached.

The main guide: Meta credit lines and monthly invoicing.

Name the setting first

SettingWhat it concerns
Payment thresholdWhen accumulated spend triggers an automatic charge
Credit limitCredit available under the approved line and its terms
Account spending limitYour cap on cumulative account spending
Campaign or ad set budgetThe budget for the selected level and period
Meta-imposed spending restrictionA delivery limit set by the platform

Meta explains payment thresholds separately from monthly invoicing. A high card threshold is not the same payment arrangement. Its spending-controls guidance also separates budgets and limits.

A card-payment example

Assume a $500 threshold and $480 of unpaid spend. Roughly another $20 brings the balance to that threshold. It does not mean the account can spend only $500 in the entire month. Continued delivery after successful payments depends on the rest of the setup and account status.

The billing date also matters under automatic payments. Read the account’s payment schedule rather than treating the familiar threshold figure as a monthly allowance.

A credit-line example

Assume an approved $10,000 line with $7,000 shown as used. The simple difference is $3,000. For actual decisions, use the available balance displayed in billing, which may reflect pending activity. If several accounts use the line, do not assume all remaining credit belongs to just one.

Check the terms and allocation in Meta’s credit-line guidance. A manager’s message saying “limit increased” needs the name of the limit and the actual account details.

If delivery has stopped

  • Read the stated reason and account status.
  • Check budgets and any spending cap you set.
  • Check recent payment results or available credit.
  • Read other restriction notices from Meta.

If the spending limit was reached, check that setting. If a payment failed, resolve the payment issue. Raising the campaign budget alone will not fix either.
