How to give an agency access to Meta Business Manager

You can give an agency advertising access as a partner in Business Manager. You need its business ID and a list of assets it will work with: the ad account, Page and pixel. There is no need to share your personal profile password.

The main guide: Facebook agency ad accounts.

Write down the assets before adding a partner

Ask for the agency’s business portfolio ID and confirm it through your established contact. Record the IDs of your ad account, Page and event source. A new messenger profile claiming to be the account manager is not enough to change that list.

Agree on the work: campaign management, creative, reporting or billing. Each is a specific responsibility. “Handle our advertising” is too vague to justify every available permission.

Grant access through the partner setup

In Meta Business Suite settings, open Partners, add a partner, choose access to your assets and enter the agency’s business ID. Select the assets and permissions before confirming. Use Meta’s partner-access instructions for the current flow.

Read the distinction between full control and partial access. Portfolio permissions and permissions for an individual asset deserve separate attention, particularly anything involving people or finances.

Verify the result

  • The owner sees the correct partner business.
  • The agency sees the agreed assets under its own working profiles.
  • The agency can perform the actual task, not just see an account name.
  • The owner retains working access and knows how the relationship will end.

If an account is missing, check the business ID, asset ID and assigned permissions before granting broader control. Having Page access does not mean the ad account has also been shared.

Record the owner of each asset separately. Partner permissions do not change ownership. You will need those details if you switch agencies later.
